Program Overview

Phoenix Youth Services is a community based residential group home that utilizes the Cognitive Behavioral and Experiential techniques and approaches designed to address aggression, anger and PTSD needs in teen girls.  Our program stresses integrity, self-worth, accountability and responsibility.  Services within the program and outside the program are coordinated to develop and improve social skills, begin to mend and enrich relationships with family, encourage healthy peer groups and relationships within the community.  Our goal is family reunification or independent living within the community.

Within the first 30 days of admission a comprehensive ISP is developed with the input of the Resident, Family, County Worker and Phoenix Staff.  This document is utilized daily to assure the resident remains focused regarding their treatment goals and objectives.  In-depth monthly reports are provided to county workers to assist the counties in monitoring the residents treatment progress.

Philosophy

It is our belief adolescents are more likely to respond positively to treatment in a family-type environment as opposed to an institutional setting.  Our facility sits on a 55 acre farm with horse stables, fresh air and relaxed living.  We encourage and promote a variety of activities and interest to assist the girls in enhancing their self confidence and self esteem.

All residents are required to participate weekly in community service activities at a variety of settings in the community.

THE MYTHICAL PHOENIX BIRD

The Phoenix is a bird of myth and legend.  The young Phoenix is a symbol of self-renewal and immortality.  The Phoenix knows its time is coming to an end so she builds a nest made of fragrant myrrh and cinnamon at the top of a palm tree. Once her nest is completed she sits on the nest and both nest and bird burst into flames.  Than a miracle!  From the burned ashes a new and radiant Phoenix rises!  Every 500 or 1000 years she repeats the same ritual to begin her life over again gaining more and more wisdom throughout the years.   She represents peace, new life, wisdom and rebirth.

Use her as inspiration for your journey through life!
